Afrika Abney is a native Washingtonian and graduate of the Corcoran School of the Arts. She has more than ten years of experience in event planning, organizing and production, program and arts administration, consulting, arts, and administration. Afrika has served as an arts teacher, teacher’s assistant, tutor, and substitute teacher for such institutions as School for the Arts in Learning, A-T Seban Mesut, Academy for Ideal Education, and Corcoran Gallery and School of the Art for grades K-12. Additionally, she has served as a program specialist, program coordinator, program director and program monitor for Jubilee Enterprises, DC Parks and Recreation, and Academy for Ideal Education, A-T Seban Mesut. Some of Afrika’s past or current clients include DC Coalition for Housing and Justice, Inc, CUDC, Desho Productions, Higher Achievement, DC Poets Against the War, Black Voices for Peace, Anacostia Art Gallery and Boutique, and Trinity College Campus Association.
