West Hills, CA – Author Didi Tillson announces the release of her debut novel, A Need for Love (ISBN 9780-0-9801833-2-0), a compelling coming-of-age story that follows the tumultuous and heart-warming journey of a young girl with a troubled childhood, whose strong faith and inner spirituality leads her to discover the certainty of joy and peace in her life.

A Need for Love reveals the story of Ami Parker, who is given away by her African- American mother. Her father is never named on her birth certificate. After years of turmoil, abuse, and uncertainty with her illegal mother, "Momma Ann" Parker, Told with an engaging voice and deep tenderness and wisdom, the novel describes the life of a young child who is alternately ignored and beaten by the mother who raised her.

In addition, Momma Ann has no idea of the abuse Ami suffers at the hands of a male babysitter during her tender year of five, and later, a male border. Her first sexual encounter with a guy, leaves her pregnant after drinking a glass of vinegar, at the age of sixteen. Momma Ann does nothing to help Ami regain custody of her child when he is stolen by the father's parents.

In Ami's early twenties she meets Ben, and the prophecies begin. Ami later learns how destructive Momma Ann can be when Ami marries and becomes a stepmother to her husband's children.

Ami's story is one that many women and men, can relate to. Experiences with adversity demonstrates the power that love and faith can have when evil forces try to prevent us from being the best that we can be. It is only when we recognize the inner truth in our spiritual souls that we find the confidence and determination to overcome any obstacles we face.

The language is spoken (so it is written) in a vernacular dialect, where most of the characters are not educated.
